The Early Days of DataMaster
DataMaster founder Rick Lifferth
He founded Market Data Service in 1980 using the tools and methodology that we use in the DataMaster appraisal software. He created a data co-op in Utah to share appraiser data. The system the preceded DataMaster software consisted of boxes of cards, each with specific property characteristics. Appraisers could then use the cards to find comparable properties. Rick still says he can find comparables with the old card system almost as fast as our software can. The first electronic version of the DataMaster system came on the market in 1996. Market Data Service, LLC was organized as a Utah limited liability company in 1998 and has operated the business continuously since then.
DataMaster Patents
DataMaster was awarded two patents by the US Patent and Trademark Office. The first patent covers how DataMaster gathers real estate data from multiple sources including public records and MLS RETS data. The second patent has to do with our custom formatting engine.
